FRESH AIR ON ALL STREAMING SERVICES APRIL 3RD!!!!
This Album is the follow up to the first album 'Fresh Soil'. Fresh Soil was a dark-noisy and very serious album. In this one I take things more light hearted. (mostly because I broke my recording equipment and lost most ideas and songs) With lighter production and unique song ideas. I use more light and mellow riffs, with booming choruses and intense build ups. PLEASE LISTEN WITH HEADPHONES. I Really worked hard on the production and ear candy of these songs. It makes for a great atmosphere and the panning sound great! DO IT
The Story Behind the album: As mentioned above, yes I lost everything! I broke my laptop (with my DAW on it) and also broke my recording a equipment. Luckily, I had a google drive set up of the songs I finished. This forced me to use all the unmixed and mastered tracks, so that explains the clipping and flat mix. Most Present on tracks such as Felina and The Epic Of Gilamesh. To fill it up I used B-Sides, can you guess which ones are B-Sides? hahah.
This is a follow up to 'Fresh Soil', 'Fresh air' being a play on words, representing a lighter and tighter sound. I don't take it as seriously on this album (for the most part). The album starts of light but gets darker as it goes on. The interlude (seet) represents a switch in tones. It gets darker from then on.
It feels like how I have been recently. Once you are happy, all you can think about is what it's gonna be like when it goes. And of course, it does. Then it hits you 10 times harder.
TRACK RUNDOWN
1. Long day
Long day was the first snippet I released. People enjoyed it, I really like the panning in this song. The strings in the chorus I am proud of. Of course there is sloppy playing and some of the build up is out of time but its still a fun and immersing song. Props to my girlfriend for naming it.
2. Lyrical genius
yes, I am self aware that my lyrics are bad, I am self aware that my music is low quality and my singing is bad. I AM A LYRICAL GENIUS
3. Fresh Air
Fresh air sets the tone for the album. Starting off with a dreamy and upbeat riff, with soundscapes throughout your headphones. Of course, the drop is a somewhat intense but mostly lo-fi sound. The idea was the drop to sound like a euphoric rush. The lyrics 'Time to work alone' talk about a different side project I have with friends. I have a band with my friends called 'the buttler' (no music released, kind of just a hobby). Its the feeling of going home and being in total control, working alone.
4. Who?
What?
5.The Epic of Gilgamesh
The first book ever written that we know of is The Epic of Gilgamesh: a mythical retelling of an important political figure from history. In the 14th century, the Jikji was printed in Korea in movable (metal) type: a collection of Buddhist Zen teachings.
6. Nirvana tribute band
The most obvious B-side, but I have grown to like it. To be honest its not bad. Some goofy lyrics, but nothing to take seriously.
7. The cats are barking - CRINGE WARNING
I was sick with Covid-19 writing this, dying sick. I talk about the contrast between feeling to much and feeling numb. That its hard to find a middle and be content with life. This is where the album starts to get darker, and noiser. This sounds like it should be on fresh soil, with creepy dissonant sounds toward the end of the song, you can deffo tell somethings becoming off. Overall, its a creepy melancholic song with a dark atmosphere. Again thanks to my girlfriend for the title.
8. Seet (interlude)
Very proud of this one, took a while and id appreciate if you'd listen to it even though its an interlude. it causes a switch in tones. It gets darker from then on. the feeling of giving in.
9. Sorry (Mayehm)
Feeling horrible, sorry to everyone. had a breakdown at the end, deffo my most vulnerable song. just listen.
10. Felina
The title is based of the show 'Breaking-Bad', a show I and if not everyone loves."Felina", is inspired by the character Feleena from the song "El Paso" by Marty Robbins, which plays a major role during the final episode. The story of "El Paso" closely mirrors Walter White's character arc in the final season of Breaking Bad. Finally ending with the death of Walter White, and the ending to it all.
